Financial Math 2nd & 3rd Periods

Financial Math

2nd & 3rd Periods

Lesson for March 30th – April 5th

We will be looking at investments, specifically trading stocks. If you have ever seen the movie “Limitless” with Bradley Cooper he starts off playing the stock market with what is known as “day trading”. Day trading is buying stocks and selling them usually within the day. He becomes so good at it that he is hired by an investment firm to purchase long term stocks.

We will be looking at stock investments on the short and long terms. I will be putting together a Power point to load here and in Google Classroom.

Assignment

There is a pre-made form in Google classroom, otherwise create your own like the one below. Use Yahoo Finance to purchase $500 worth of the stocks of your choice. Throughout the week you will track your stocks and determine if you will sell or keep your shares. Any profit may be reinvested or put into savings.

Stock Name Share Price # of Shares Total Cost
Example:
Wal-Mart 95.60 2 191.20
